Description
The City of Norfolk Department of Public Works is soliciting sealed bids for repairs to the Virginia Zoo Africa Boardwalk. The work includes demolition and removal of existing timber decking, joists, railings, fences, gates, lighting, portions of walkways, and related structures; replacement of decking and framing; installation of composite decking, aluminum and ornamental steel railing systems, gates, lighting, waterproofing, and associated concrete and asphalt walkway work. The project also includes construction of a bird enclosure and work shed, including foundations, pressure-treated wood framing, board-and-batten siding, standing-seam metal roofing, bird and predator mesh, doors, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical rough-ins. The contractor must coordinate phased construction in an active zoo, protect animals, staff, visitors, and existing facilities, provide required submittals and quality-control services, and complete the work within 445 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with final completion within 475 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.
