Description
The University of Washington is requesting proposals from qualified shipyard contractors to perform the 2027 drydock project for the R/V Rachel Carson. Base work includes conventional floating drydocking; underwater hull pressure washing, painting, and draft-mark renewal; transducer protection and painting; replacement of an existing 38 kHz transducer with an owner-furnished Simrad ES38-7 transducer; tailshaft and rudder bearing measurements; bow-thruster inspection and oil change; zinc-anode replacement; rope-cutter installation; gantry, bits, rollers, and railing preparation and painting; anchor-chain ranging; shaft-flow-alarm investigation; and related watertight-integrity work. Optional work packages include sewage-tank expansion, preparation and painting of a double-bottom void, replacement of 17 bridge windows, and wheelhouse bulkhead preparation and painting. The contractor must provide the required labor, materials, equipment, supervision, temporary services, and shipyard facilities, identify a work location in Washington or Oregon, and submit fixed pricing for the base and optional work packages. Responses must include a cover letter, technical approach, project-team information, relevant experience and past performance, references, a project schedule, and pricing through the Workday Strategic Sourcing event.
