Description
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is soliciting proposals for the Technology Integrator and Accelerator (TIGAR) Exploratory Topic. This initiative aims to develop enabling technologies for temperature-flexible storage of regenerative tissues and organs, moving beyond current limitations that rely on strictly controlled temperatures. Solutions may incorporate new materials, artificial intelligence/machine learning, high-throughput screening, biological interventions, devices, processing methods, analytical technology, and packaging approaches. Strategies that reduce reliance on strictly controlled temperature zones and can ensure safe storage in a range of environmental conditions are preferred. Innovations at the cellular level without a strategy for deployment in thick tissues will not be considered. The TIGAR program will accept submissions in two intake groups, with solution video due dates on June 8, 2026, and December 8, 2026. Full proposals will follow, with deadlines on August 5, 2026, and February 5, 2027, respectively. The overall funding request for any proposed effort must not exceed $2 million USD over an 18-month period of performance, including two 9-month phases with a down-select decision at the end of Phase 1. Proposers are expected to demonstrate progress towards functional preservation of specific tissue types for 30 days at practical temperatures.
