Description
The South Dakota Department of Education seeks a qualified processor to convert USDA-provided bulk pork into six fully cooked products for school meals: barbecue pork rib patties, reduced-sodium pork meatballs, pork taco filling, pork sausage links, Southern-style sausage patties, and sausage gravy. Products must meet the stated Child Nutrition meal-pattern equivalencies, be produced under USDA inspection and approved quality-control and food-safety programs, pass through a metal detector, and meet packaging and labeling requirements. The State anticipates approximately one or two truckloads of the commodity for each school year; quantities are not guaranteed. The contractor must process and store the products, then deliver them as ordered to the designated cold-storage warehouse. Proposals must include pricing, a detailed response to the scope, examples of similar work, recent audited financial statements, and the required certifications and completed forms. Responders must also provide 15 servings of each proposed item to each of five designated schools for taste testing by the stated sample deadline. The selected contractor must be an approved USDA National Processing Agreement commodity processor.
