Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is conducting market research for a firm-fixed-price contract covering the purchase and twice-weekly delivery of bread products to Nutrition and Food Service at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital in San Antonio and the Kerrville VA Medical Center. Required products include white and whole-wheat sandwich loaves, Jewish rye sliced bread, English muffins, white and whole-wheat hamburger buns, white hot dog buns, Parkerhouse white rolls, and hoagie rolls. Deliveries are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays at the San Antonio facility and Tuesdays at the Kerrville facility, between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., including federal holidays. Delivery personnel must be escorted by VA staff to the Nutrition and Food Service walk-in cooler. Products must have at least seven days of remaining shelf life, comply with commercial packaging and labeling standards, and include readable date codes. The contractor must provide delivery equipment, replacement or credit for rejected products, advance notice of product availability issues, telephone ordering capability, and weekly itemized invoices. Contractor personnel must wear identifiable clothing and badges, proper hair restraints, and the contractor must provide workers' compensation and professional liability insurance.
