Description
North East Independent School District is soliciting proposals for districtwide snack vending services. The awarded contractor will furnish new or reconditioned, energy-efficient vending machines; deliver and install them at designated district locations; stock them with approved snack products; provide repairs, refills, cleaning, maintenance, refunds for machine malfunctions, money collection, reporting, and commission payments; and remove the machines at contract termination. Beverage products are not accepted, although food vending machines may be required at two large-meeting facilities for items such as sandwiches, soups, microwaveable foods, burritos, and similar meals. Snack products must comply with USDA and district nutrition standards, including limits of 200 calories, 200 mg sodium, 35% of calories from total fat, less than 10% of calories from saturated fat, zero trans fat, and no more than 35% of weight from total sugars. Products require nutrition labels and prior written approval. Machines must include payment-card readers, dollar-bill changers, and timers or lockouts where required. The contractor must respond to service calls within 24 hours, provide same-day refills when requested before 3:00 p.m., and submit proposed product lists, nutrition labels, machine specifications, remuneration schedules, incentives, a sample monthly activity report, and other required forms and attachments. The initial contract term is three years with two additional one-year renewals, for a potential maximum of five years.
