Cobb County Department of Transportation intends to solicit a design-builder for Phase II of the Chattahoochee River Trail. The approximately 1.3-mile project will include a 10- to 17-foot shared-use bike and pedestrian path with intermittent modal separation, a bridge over an unnamed creek, boardwalks over wetlands and other environmentally sensitive areas, and nature-based stormwater best management practices to improve water quality and reduce erosion. The scope is expected to include design, permitting, utility coordination and relocation for Cobb County Water System utilities, construction, erosion-control permitting and compliance, survey and geotechnical investigations, environmental and foundation studies, and related services. The procurement will use a two-phase design-build process: qualifications-based finalist selection followed by a best-value proposal process. The published notice is preliminary; final requirements will be provided in the future RFQ and RFP. Firms must meet specified Georgia Department of Transportation or Cobb County prequalification area classes, and the notice identifies several firms that are conflicted and may not participate.
