Description
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Firefox program seeks innovative approaches in one or both separate technical areas: scalable components that dynamically steer or raster coherent optical signals across multiple neural regions, and scalable analog or optical processing architectures that phase-align, combine, and compress high-rate optical speckle data before digitization. Proposed technologies must support integration with the existing 1310-nanometer coherent optical sensing system and address the program's performance, coherence, efficiency, miniaturization, and data-throughput requirements. The program is structured as three 12-month phases over 36 months. Phase 1 develops initial architectures and prototypes, Phase 2 advances performance and fiber-tethered or intermediate processing configurations, and Phase 3 delivers final prototype componentry or processing hardware/software for independent verification and validation. Responders must submit an abstract first; those invited may submit an Oral Presentation Proposal package. The package includes technical narratives, presentation materials, risk and mitigation information, a completed Other Transaction model, cost and milestone spreadsheets, and supporting documentation. Multiple awards totaling $4,000,000 to $7,000,000 across all phases are anticipated.
