Description
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is soliciting applications for the FY 2026 Bridging Immigration-Related Deficits Nationwide (ABIDEN) Program. This program, authorized by the BIDEN Reimbursement Fund, provides grants to eligible States, State agencies, units of local government, and tribal governments to support efforts in locating and apprehending criminal illegal aliens, collecting and analyzing law enforcement information to counter criminal activity, investigating and prosecuting crimes committed by aliens and drug/human trafficking crimes, supporting court operations for these prosecutions, detaining aliens temporarily, transporting aliens, and providing vehicle maintenance and logistics support to law enforcement agencies. The program offers three funding categories: Category 1 focuses on hiring sworn and non-sworn law enforcement personnel, including salaries for up to three years within a five-year period of performance. Category 2 supports the purchase and maintenance of advanced technology and equipment for criminal justice operations. Category 3 provides funding for the construction or substantial renovation/expansion/modernization of temporary detention facilities for criminal illegal aliens awaiting prosecution, immigration proceedings, or transfer to federal custody. Eligible applicants include State Agencies with law enforcement responsibilities and Units of Local Government.
