Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is offering a technology licensing opportunity for its GreenFuran Direct Allylation method, a novel process for producing allylated furans. This technology provides a mild, low-waste route to alkyl and allylic furans, which are valuable ingredients in food and beverage flavorings, personal care products, surfactants, and insecticides. The method uses renewable, biomass-derived alcohols as starting materials, produces only water as a byproduct, and employs inexpensive, recyclable catalysts such as aluminosilicates and metal phosphates. It operates under ambient conditions or gentle heating up to 60 degrees Celsius, avoiding the need for cryogenic equipment, hazardous reagents, and costly precious metals. The technology is at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3, with a U.S. patent pending. LANL is seeking partners to license this technology for commercial development. This is not a call for external services but an invitation to license the technology.
