Description
The U.S. Census Bureau is conducting market research regarding commercially available RFID technology and supporting software for tracking inventory at item or box, pallet, and rack or storage-location levels. The contemplated capabilities include RFID tags, fixed and mobile readers, antennas, portals, edge components, management tools, facility assessments, equipment selection, physical installation, configuration, commissioning, operational testing, and phased deployment across multiple government facilities. The agency also seeks recommendations for securely transmitting and processing RFID event data within its existing Microsoft Azure-hosted Warehouse Inventory Management System, without replacing that system. Responses should address interfaces, data mapping, event filtering, duplicate and error handling, cybersecurity, device administration, resilience, lifecycle support, training, relevant experience, contract vehicles, and rough-order-of-magnitude cost drivers. This is an RFI for planning and information-gathering purposes, not a solicitation for proposals or an award opportunity.
