Description
The City of Cedar Rapids seeks bids for demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a new cable-stayed bridge across the Cedar River, with an integrated flood-control system. Work also includes approach roadways, traffic improvements, sidewalks and trail reconstruction, utility work, lighting, bridge foundations and structural components, temporary construction access, flood-response measures, and related site improvements. The engineer's opinion of probable cost is $123 million, and final completion is specified as 1,250 calendar days. Bids are submitted through the City's Ion Wave system, with unit prices entered online. The bid package requires bid security and a completed Bidder Status Form. The apparent low bidder must provide the project-specific bridge qualification package after bid opening, within 10 calendar days of request.
