The National Institute of Justice is seeking grant proposals for rigorous, applied research and evaluations examining how adult criminal justice systems respond to illegal immigration and crimes committed by aliens while in the United States illegally. Proposed research may address courts, law enforcement, jails, prisons, community supervision, apprehension, transportation and detention, fraud investigations, criminal-activity profiles, gang activity, and drug or human trafficking operations. Studies may focus on one or more jurisdictions and may examine cooperation among federal, state, local, and tribal justice systems and other stakeholders. The opportunity anticipates five awards, with estimated total program funding of $3,000,000 and an award ceiling of $3,000,000; no cost sharing or matching is required.
