Description
Collier County seeks a professional conservator to conserve 41 historic museum objects damaged by Hurricane Ian in 2022. The scope includes site assessment, treatment planning and Museum approval, cleaning, conditioning, stabilization, sensitive handling, photographic documentation, and treatment of objects made from metal, wood, leather, paper, fiber/textile, paint, rubber, and combinations of these materials. Large objects must be treated in situ while the museum is open to the public, while small objects may be treated off site. The conservator is responsible for safe handling, packaging, relocation, transportation, security while objects are in custody, progress communications, and a final Treatment Report documenting each object's treatment, photographs, techniques, chemicals, removed components, restored features, discoveries, and maintenance recommendations. Respondents must indicate treatment methods, transportation and relocation plans, and proposed subcontracts; possess professional conservation organization membership or accreditation and at least two years of conservation experience with references.
