Description
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeks innovative fundamental research proposals from eligible early-career faculty and researchers at nonprofit research institutions. Proposals must address one of the announcement’s specified technical areas and demonstrate potential to advance science, devices, or systems relevant to national security. The program requires an executive summary before a full proposal; multiple topic areas and research disciplines are covered, so the specific research scope depends on the selected topic area. The award structure includes a 24-month base period, a 12-month Director’s Fellowship option, and an optional 12-month U.S. citizen graduate student effort that runs concurrently with the base period. The full proposal includes a technical and management volume, an administrative and national policy requirements volume, a proposal summary slide, an executive summary, and a response letter from DARPA following executive-summary review. The graduate student option template is required only when proposing that option. Full proposals are submitted through Grants.gov; executive summaries are submitted through the Broad Agency Announcement Tool.
