Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is conducting a sources-sought market research inquiry for optometry services at Federal Correctional Complex Oakdale. The anticipated requirement is a single-award, firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery/requirements-type contract consisting of one base year and four additional 12-month option years. Services are expected to include approximately 576 sessions annually, with each session defined as one hour and a normal schedule of eight sessions per workday, six days per month. The contractor must provide a qualified optometrist licensed to practice in Louisiana, with current ACLS and CPR certification, required education and credential documentation, malpractice and medical indemnification insurance, and the ability to pass drug screening and a law-enforcement background check. Duties include inmate eye examinations, diagnosis of eye conditions, foreign-object removal, tonometry, treatment and follow-up recommendations, prescribing and fitting corrective lenses, equipment adjustment, patient reports, and documentation in the Bureau of Prisons' electronic medical record. The optometrist will work in a correctional environment with frequent unsupervised inmate contact and must complete institution orientation and comply with applicable security, privacy, and health-services requirements.
