Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Network Contracting Office (NCO) 2 is conducting market research to identify potential sources for medical physicist services. These services are needed to support the Radiation Safety Program at the Finger Lakes and Albany VA Medical Centers, serving facilities in Rochester, Canandaigua, Bath, and Albany, NY. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and personnel to perform annual quality control testing on diagnostic x-ray equipment, including radiographic, fluoroscopic, CT, DR, and MRI safety checks. This includes acceptance testing of new devices, inspection of repaired equipment, testing of replacement x-ray tubes, and testing of diagnostic monitors. The contractor must also provide written reports of surveys and test results in a timely manner and respond promptly to any discrepancies found during external inspections. Consultation services for safety training and radiation exposure events are also required. The VA is seeking pricing for a 1-year contract with four possible 1-year extensions. Medical Physicists must hold a Master's Degree in Medical Physics, Health Physics, or a related field, and possess current Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiological Physics. Experience in CT optimization and calibration/testing of diagnostic x-ray equipment is required. The contractor must adhere to VHA Handbook 1105.04 and relevant radiation protection standards.
