Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to procure BioMerieux BioFire panel products for the Minneapolis VA Healthcare System. The requirement includes GI panels, blood culture identification panels, meningitis/encephalitis panels, respiratory pathogen panels, and pneumonia panels, supplied in 30-test or 30-pouch kits as specified. The estimated action value is $636,905.60. The notice states that the products are sole-source because they are proprietary, FDA-cleared assays compatible with the facility's existing BioFire analyzers and established laboratory procedures. No other manufacturer's reagent kits are compatible with the installed equipment, and the procurement is intended as a direct replacement to avoid equipment replacement, installation, training, and a 90- to 120-day transition period.
