Description
The National Institute of Justice is seeking grant applications for rigorous, applied research and evaluation examining how state, local, and tribal criminal justice systems respond to illegal immigration and crimes committed by aliens while unlawfully present in the United States. Proposed studies may address law enforcement, apprehension, courts, transportation, detention, prisons, community supervision, fraud, gang activity, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and cooperation among federal, state, local, and tribal justice systems. Both primary data collection and secondary data analysis are eligible; evaluation proposals must include cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analyses. Applicants must submit a proposal narrative, budget, required federal and Justice Department forms, and applicable research-related components through Grants.gov and JustGrants. The proposal narrative is limited to 30 pages, must be double-spaced in 12-point font with one-inch margins and numbered pages, and must include the required research, implementation, capabilities, impact, and supporting sections. The anticipated performance period is up to 48 months, with an expected total funding amount of $3,000,000 across an undetermined number of awards.
