The Florida Department of Transportation intends to enter into a single-source agreement with Malvern Panalytical, Inc. for service on its Zetium X-ray fluorescence (XRF) equipment. The agreement includes efforts to provide on-site response within 48 hours during normal business hours; spare-parts coverage, excluding consumables, tubes, and X-ray detectors; unlimited corrective maintenance calls; business-hours phone support, labor, and travel; two preventive maintenance calls per year during the contract period; and remote hardware, software, and applications support. The stated price is $39,711. The agency states that Malvern Panalytical is the only known vendor authorized to maintain the equipment and provide its proprietary software and application support.
