Description
The Department of Labor is issuing updated guidance and application information for the National Dislocated Worker Grant (DWG) Program. This program offers two types of grants: Disaster Recovery DWGs, which provide temporary employment and training in response to declared emergencies or disasters, and Employment Recovery DWGs, which support response to major economic dislocations like mass layoffs or plant closures. Eligibility for these grants varies depending on the grant type. Disaster Recovery DWGs are available to states, outlying areas, and Indian tribal governments. Employment Recovery DWGs are open to states, outlying areas, local Workforce Development Boards, Indian and Native American program entities, and other approved entities demonstrating capability to respond to dislocations. The program aims to provide supplemental funding when existing WIOA Dislocated Worker formula funds are insufficient to address large-scale economic events, helping communities and individuals recover and build resilience.
