Description
The National Park Service (NPS) African American Civil Rights Grant Program (AACR) is seeking applications for projects that document and preserve sites and stories related to the African American struggle for equal rights. This program, funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), supports a variety of preservation projects, including architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation of historic structures. Properties must be listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Grants are awarded competitively and do not require a non-Federal match. There are two distinct funding announcements: P25AS00495 is for physical preservation projects, and P25AS00496 is for history research, documentation, survey, and nomination projects. Applicants must ensure they apply under the correct opportunity number for their specific project. The total funding available for FY2025 is $24 million. Eligible applicants include State governments, local governments, nonprofits, educational institutions, and Federally Recognized Indian Tribes, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiian Organizations. Grants are not available for sites or collections owned or leased by the NPS. Projects are funded through grants, with an expected number of 45 awards ranging from $15,000 to $750,000.
