The National Institute of Justice is seeking applications for research and evaluation of programs funded through the Bureau of Justice Assistance Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program during fiscal years 2022 through 2026. Eligible evaluation topics include law enforcement crisis interventions, court-based programming, referrals to treatment for people in crisis, extreme risk protection order programs, mental health courts, drug courts, and veterans treatment courts. Applicants may address multiple program areas and should identify the applicable areas on the title page. Applications must propose and include both phases of a two-phased evaluation strategy: Phase I, evaluability assessments, and Phase II, an evaluation of the program's effectiveness. The agency anticipates making four awards, with estimated total program funding of $23,773,974 and an award ceiling of $5,943,493. The funding instrument is a cooperative agreement, and cost sharing or matching is not required.
