Description
The Kansas State School for the Blind is requesting proposals for a vendor to provide services to update its website to ensure WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance prior to the federal deadline. This project aims to remediate existing accessibility issues and establish a sustainable, agency-wide accessibility program, aligning with the NCADEMIA ADA Title II Roadmap. Key requirements include quality alt-text and long descriptions for educational graphics, optimization for assistive technologies, non-visual error handling, remediation of documents and media (e.g., tagged PDFs, videos with extended audio descriptions), and verification of braille compatibility. The vendor will also assist in developing a formal Digital Accessibility Policy and an organizational implementation plan, and establish procedures for future third-party purchases to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Testing will involve automated scanning, keyboard-only testing, and mandatory manual screen reader scans using JAWS, NVDA, and Voiceover to verify reading order, announcement quality, interactive element clarity, and dynamic content handling. Deliverables include an audit report with remediated source code, a formal accessibility statement/VPAT, staff training, and user acceptance testing results.
