Description
The California Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for on-call, as-needed application of pre-emergent and contact herbicides across approximately 720 acres of bare and landscaped areas within Caltrans rights-of-way in San Diego County. The contractor must provide labor, tools, equipment, incidentals, travel, and at least two personnel for hand-application operations; Caltrans will provide the herbicides, water, required traffic control, and pest control recommendations. Work may include backpack spot spraying, orchard-gun fire bands, or conventional spraying using equipment with a minimum 200-gallon tank, with a minimum production rate of two acres per day. The agreement is estimated to run from November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2029, with individual service requests limited to three months. Bidders must hold a current Qualified Applicator License or Certificate and maintain Department of Industrial Relations registration. The solicitation includes a small-business preference and a DVBE incentive, but DVBE participation is not required. The lowest responsive and responsible bidder will be selected.
