Description
Dallas Area Rapid Transit is soliciting professional engineering services for the Trinity Railway Express Second Main Track project. The scope includes design of approximately 2.1 miles of double track from I-35E to the Regal Row grade separation, a minimum 8,000 track-foot clear siding, and related bridge, track, civil, structural, geotechnical, drainage, utility, environmental, traffic-control, right-of-way, and permitting work. The design must support passenger speeds up to 79 mph and freight speeds up to 55 mph, maintain rail operations during construction, and comply with applicable DART, TRE, AREMA, BNSF, FRA, FTA, TxDOT, City of Dallas, and other jurisdictional requirements. Required services include feasibility and alternative analyses for the I-35E bridges, design packages at 10%, 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100%/IFB/IFC stages, construction phasing and traffic-detour planning, CMGC constructability and value-engineering support, cost-estimate and GMP-development support, environmental permitting, utility coordination, and preparation of signed and sealed construction documents. An optional service covers design support during construction, and another covers feasibility and full design for a Market Center Boulevard grade separation. The solicitation identifies an 18-month base design term and an estimated construction value of approximately $50 million; the design contract amount is not stated.
