Description
The California Education Learning Lab and GO-Biz are soliciting full proposals for the Quantum FAST Challenge, which will fund California public higher education projects that strengthen the quantum talent pipeline and advance applied quantum innovation. Eligible activities include hands-on quantum learning experiences, workforce entry pathways, curriculum and instructional development, and use-case demonstrations pairing faculty and students with industry partners in areas such as quantum science, engineering, materials discovery, energy systems, logistics, and life sciences. Projects may address one or more of four tracks: hands-on experiences, workforce entry points, quantum innovation and use-case demonstrations, or other aligned activities. Grants may range from projects of up to $100,000 to awards of up to $500,000 for multi-track projects with strong intersegmental collaboration. Grants above specified thresholds require collaboration among at least two California public higher education segments. The full proposal application requires completion of an online proposal form and submission through Submittable. Applicants must provide project information, an abstract, team and institutional details, impact estimates, descriptions of courses, equipment, technology, pedagogical practices, and existing quantum-related activities. Required uploads include one PDF containing two recommendation letters, an eight-page full proposal, a detailed budget using the provided template, and a combined PDF of short CVs for project personnel. A logic model may be submitted optionally. The full proposal must be submitted as a PDF using Arial 11-point font, single spacing, and margins of at least 0.5 inch; the budget must be submitted in XLS or XLSX format. The deadline is October 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
