Description
The USDA Forest Service is soliciting proposals for the Blanchard Springs Caverns (BSC) Dripstone and Discovery Trail Infrastructure repairs and safety upgrades. The project includes all labor, equipment, supplies, testing & inspections, and incidentals necessary for the work. Key tasks include structural stabilization of tunnel entrances and exits, removal and disposal of existing supports, masonry repairs, installation of instrumentation and monitoring equipment, replacement of air lock doors, security doors, suspended ceiling systems, bypass tunnel doors, lighting and distribution systems, safety handrails, and the mine phone system. The work is divided into two sets of plan documents: the Golder Drawings and Specifications for the tunnel rehabilitation portion, and the JLA Drawings and Specifications for the handrail and lighting portion. The project also includes options for additional handrail replacements in various areas of the Discovery Trail. Work must be performed by qualified and licensed contractors, and all work shall conform to the attached drawings and specifications.
