Description
The Commonwealth is soliciting bids to lease two tracts totaling approximately 1,268.6 acres for agricultural production. The lessee will grow annual grains, primarily soybeans, and plant designated acreage of corn or approved alternate crops for wildlife. Work includes following no-till/minimal-till and habitat-management requirements, coordinating with the supervising biologist, and providing specified road-maintenance materials, food-plot seed and supplies, chemicals and fertilizer with application, and heavy-equipment services. The bid package also requires annual reporting and sets out crop, access, maintenance, and payment obligations. The lease is for one year, with up to four successive one-year renewals. Bidders must submit a sealed bid using the provided bid forms and include a $100 deposit for each bid. The successful bidder must provide required insurance before operations begin; this is a post-award obligation.
