Description
The Department of State is seeking information from U.S. Small Businesses regarding their capabilities to provide consolidated receiving and warehouse services in the Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma areas. These services are essential for supporting the transportation of supplies, equipment, and household effects to U.S. embassies and consulates overseas. The contractor will be responsible for receiving items from U.S. sources, consolidating them, and preparing them for shipment in sea containers and air cargo. Key capabilities required include cross-docking, knowledge of federal and local labor laws, material handling for large and heavy freight, provision of a minimum of 20,000 square feet of dedicated warehouse space with racking, loading and stowing of sea containers, delivery services in the Seattle metropolitan area, and the use of a computer-based warehouse management system. The contractor must also provide packing and crating services, including for hazardous materials, and assume liability for loss and damage of freight up to $5,000,000. Proof of current licenses, permits, real property documentation, and hazardous materials certifications are also required.
