Description
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, Department of Transfusion Medicine, Infectious Diseases Section, requires a real-time PCR system, an automated nucleic acid extractor, and a microvolume spectrophotometer. The instruments will support clinical research and the development, optimization, and validation of diagnostic assays for hepatitis viruses and other transfusion-transmitted pathogens. Required capabilities include accurate and reproducible quantification of viral RNA/DNA and host-derived nucleic acids; targeted genome amplification; viral genome-sequencing library preparation; flexible low- to moderate-throughput operation; rapid turnaround; integrated extraction, amplification, quantification, and data-analysis workflows; compatibility with existing nucleic-acid preparation and amplification methods; and use in a CLIA-certified environment. The notice identifies Fisher Scientific as the intended source under a sole-source rationale, but responsible sources may submit capability statements for consideration.
