Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is soliciting a contractor to modernize nine existing traction elevators in Building 1A of Jesse Brown VA Medical Center: Elevators P1 through P4, S5, S6, P7, P8, and M1. The work includes demolition and replacement or modernization of elevator cars, machinery, controllers, hoistway doors, corridor fixtures, electrical and mechanical systems, emergency and firefighter operations, ADA-compliant controls, communications, fire alarm interfaces, and associated sump pumps, finishes, and building repairs. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, tools, materials, equipment, submittals, testing, commissioning, training, closeout documentation, and a one-year parts-and-labor warranty. The project is a 100% set-aside for SBA-verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses and is limited by the applicable subcontracting requirements for special trade construction contractors. The work must be completed within 542 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. A bid guarantee of at least 20% of the bid price, not exceeding $3,000,000, is required; the successful bidder must provide payment and performance bonds equal to the awarded contract value. The stated project magnitude is $10,000,000 to $20,000,000.
