Description
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting proposals for revolutionary research ideas that enable significant advances in science, devices, or systems. This solicitation, managed by the Multi X Office (MXO), specifically excludes research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to existing practices. DARPA anticipates funding multiple proposals on a rolling basis, with abstracts due by April 23, 2027, and full proposals invited thereafter. The solicitation utilizes Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs) and Experimental Transaction Agreements (ETAs) to foster research and development. The MXO's mission is to disrupt technology development and use by applying physical sciences broadly and unconventionally to deliver innovative capabilities. Key thrust areas include: 1. Materials and components to expand the foundation, focusing on beyond-CMOS foundations for resilient and secure systems. 2. Tools and processes for indigenous development, strengthening industrial resilience and creating new domestic supply chains. 3. New modalities to achieve mission effects, exploring resilient and novel approaches beyond traditional electronic-only methods. Proposals must first be submitted as an abstract, which will be reviewed for applicability to MXO's thrust areas and current interests. Only those abstracts invited by DARPA will be eligible to submit a full proposal.
