Description
The City of Saratoga Springs is prequalifying drilling contractors for its Pressurized Irrigation Well 9 Project. The work includes installing and grout-sealing a conductor casing; drilling a pilot borehole and reaming it to approximately 1,200 feet using flooded reverse-mud rotary methods; performing geophysical and caliper logging and formation zone testing; constructing a 20-inch-diameter municipal production well with stainless-steel screens and engineered gravel pack; developing and disinfecting the well; conducting video, plumbness, alignment, step-rate drawdown, and 24-hour constant-rate discharge testing; and installing a pump for development and test pumping. Applicants must demonstrate relevant municipal water-supply well experience, including at least three similar projects completed within the past seven years. The stated experience criteria include 1,200-foot wells in valley-fill alluvial sediments, flooded reverse-circulation drilling, formation zone testing, at least 16-inch completed casing, engineered gravel pack, and pump discharge rates of at least 2,500 gallons per minute. Applicants must also provide qualified personnel information, resumes, project references, licensing information, equipment capability, safety and quality-program information, and evidence of available bonding capacity exceeding the estimated $2 million requirement. Only prequalified contractors will be invited to bid on the subsequent construction project.
