Description
This Sources Sought/RFI seeks information on commercially available reusable half-facepiece air-purifying respirators for wildland firefighters operating in non-IDLH, non-oxygen-deficient environments during wildfire suppression, prescribed fire operations, and related field activities. Desired systems should be portable, durable, reusable, compatible with quantitative fit testing, maintainable in the field, and capable of using replaceable cartridges or other air-purifying elements. The Government is particularly interested in NIOSH-approved products that meet or approach NFPA 1984 requirements for wildland firefighting, including protection from smoke particulates, organic vapors, and formaldehyde. Respondents must provide corporate information, detailed product and cartridge descriptions, NIOSH and NFPA performance information, operational suitability data, maintenance procedures, user acceptance and fit information, wildfire smoke performance data, logistics and field-support capabilities, and rough-order-of-magnitude pricing. Pricing should cover respirators, cartridges, replacement parts, and estimated annual operating costs at quantities of 100 and 1,000 units. This is market research only and is not a solicitation; proposals and quotes will not be accepted.
