Description
The United States Navy is soliciting bids for continuous thread studs, specifically meeting the requirements of MIL-DTL-1222. These studs are designated as SPECIAL EMPHASIS material (Level I, Scope of Certification, or Quality Assured) due to their critical use in shipboard systems, where failure could result in serious personnel injury, loss of life, or loss of vital shipboard systems. The material must be manufactured and designed according to MIL-DTL-1222, with specific requirements for size (5/8 inch), length (4 1/2 inches), thread series (11 UNC), grade (400), and class of fit (2A). Thread rolling is permitted, but specific conditions apply for alternate mechanical testing. The unit of issue is EACH, and the contractor is required to provide one additional fastener per shipment for traceability. Testing certifications, including Liquid Penetrant Inspection, are mandatory. The contract also invokes quality system requirements in accordance with ISO-9001 or an acceptable alternate, with calibration system requirements of ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025. Government Quality Assurance will be performed at the source. Final delivery of material is required within 365 days after the effective date of the resulting contract. This is a "DO" rated order certified for national defense use under the Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS). Past performance will be considered in the evaluation of offers.
