Description
The County of Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety is soliciting construction bids for repaving the Napili Fire Station. The work includes demolishing and disposing of existing asphalt pavement and curbing; excavating, grading, repairing, and compacting the subgrade and base course; installing tack coat, Mix IV hot-mix asphalt pavement, and new six-inch asphalt curbing; restoring disturbed areas; and applying four-inch white thermoplastic parking-stall striping. The project includes a base bid and an additive alternate area. The contractor must furnish all labor, materials, equipment, testing, permits, traffic-control and public-safety measures, erosion and dust-control best management practices, and legal disposal of surplus materials. A geotechnical firm must perform compaction testing and reporting. Bidders must submit a completed and signed proposal, bid breakdown, subcontractor list, and bid security through the Public Purchase System. A bid bond or other permitted bid security equal to at least five percent of the bid is required. The project manual states a 180-calendar-day performance period, while the proposal form states completion within 365 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed; this discrepancy should be clarified before bidding.
