Description
The City of Columbus is soliciting bids for Central College Subtrunk, Phase 3, a wastewater infrastructure construction project involving approximately 10,926 linear feet of 48-inch inside-diameter sanitary sewer installed by curved and straight slurry microtunneling through soil, mixed-face conditions, and rock. The work includes four jacking pits, five receiving pits, eight microtunnel drives, twelve manholes, bypass pumping, dewatering, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, contact grouting, site restoration, maintenance of traffic, and abandonment of the existing 24-inch Sugar Run Subtrunk. Additional open-cut work includes approximately 63 feet of 18-inch sewer, 82 feet of 8-inch sewer, and 70 feet of 12-inch sewer. The project is funded through the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund and is subject to Ohio and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requirements, including Davis-Bacon prevailing wages, Equal Employment Opportunity and debarment certifications, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation and good-faith-effort requirements, American Iron and Steel provisions, and applicable Build America, Buy America requirements. The City estimates the contract will exceed $2 million, requiring construction prequalification and a subcontractor benefits and training affidavit. The contractor must demonstrate substantial microtunneling experience and provide qualified project personnel, equipment, and technical support.
