Description
Mississippi State University proposes a sole-source purchase of two UltraFlex Power Technologies UltraMelt TF-40 tilting induction melting furnaces, a Haskris WC-HO-46 chilled cooling system configured to support both furnaces at full duty cycle, four matching UltraFlex graphite crucibles, and startup assistance and training. The furnaces provide automated tilting and pouring, handheld and digital controls, energy-efficient induction heating, and operator-safety features for melting and casting aluminum, brass, and other non-ferrous metals. The integrated system will support instructional, research, and workforce-development activities in the university's Metallurgical Engineering Trade Apprenticeships and Learning program. The proposed total cost is $114,779, including an $8,624 educational university discount. Induction Technology Corporation is identified as the sole designer and distributor of the specified system and components. This notice invites written objections to the proposed sole-source purchase; an objection must explain why another source can provide the required commodities and include supporting documentation when applicable.
