Description
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is seeking a qualified contractor to replace a small single-lane bridge over Gene Creek with a 15-foot-6-inch-span by 7-foot-3-inch-rise aluminum box culvert and reconstruct approximately 350 linear feet of Tuxedo Avenue. The work includes clearing and grubbing, removal of the existing bridge, excavation, roadway embankment and aggregate surface-course construction, culvert installation, stream simulation, stream diversion and dewatering, riprap, stream substrate, topsoil, seeding, erosion and pollution control, traffic maintenance, and related surveying and construction activities. Estimated quantities include 1,825 cubic yards of unclassified excavation, 700 tons of Borrow Type B, 1,950 tons of Borrow Type II-A, 260 tons of aggregate surface course, 85 cubic yards of stream substrate, and 36 linear feet of box culvert. The contractor must comply with the stamped drawings, geotechnical report, Alaska Department of Fish and Game permit, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit, and applicable Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities specifications. The project requires an approved stream diversion and dewatering plan, environmental and traffic-control submittals, a manufacturer's representative during culvert backfill and shape monitoring, and a State of Alaska-registered professional engineer's stamped culvert design and load-rating calculations. Substantial completion is required by September 15, 2027, and final completion by July 31, 2028. The estimated project magnitude is $500,000 to $700,000.
