Description
The State of Rhode Island is seeking to establish a list of qualified local vendors to supply perishable food products. This initiative aims to maximize opportunities for local producers and distributors of perishable foods, including fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, dairy products (excluding items on the State's dairy contract), and fresh prepared foods. Vendor selection will be based on their responses, with price negotiations to be determined by the servicing State agencies and other eligible agencies. A local vendor is defined as one within a one-hour drive time to the servicing agency. All orders must be delivered within 24-48 hours of receipt with a 98% fill rate, FOB destination, with freight included and no additional charges for inside delivery. Vendors must be prepared to provide driver names and background information for security clearance into secure facilities such as the Department of Corrections, Department of Children, Youth and Families, and the Rhode Island Training School. Vendor vehicles may be subject to inspection upon entering and leaving these facilities. To be considered, vendors must provide a copy of their current food distribution license, a resume detailing qualifications and products, and a list of at least three relevant client references with contact information.
