Description
The City of Easton is soliciting bids for construction of numerous ADA-compliant sidewalk corner ramps in the Downtown historic district. The work includes demolition of existing sidewalk corners and adjacent sections; installation of Type 1 curb ramps; roadway restoration; traffic control, signs, barricades, lighting, and flagging; removal and replacement of signs as needed; inlet protection; and white thermoplastic pavement and piano-key crosswalk markings. The base bid covers ramps south of Northampton Street, with ramps north of Northampton Street identified as alternate bid items. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, and services; maintain access for businesses, parking lots, residences, pedestrians, deliveries, and emergency vehicles; comply with ADA, PennDOT, MUTCD, prevailing-wage, steel-product, and public-works requirements; and obtain required permits and a City of Easton contractor license before receiving a Notice to Proceed. Work must begin within 45 calendar days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed and be completed within 90 calendar days. A bid guaranty of at least 10% of the base bid is required, and the successful bidder must furnish performance and payment bonds in an amount not less than the awarded contract amount. Required insurance includes workers’ compensation, employer’s liability, public liability, automobile liability, and $1,000,000 umbrella coverage.
