Description
Kenmare Public School District is applying for Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) I grant funding under the CARES Act. The funds will be used for three main areas: 1) Technology refresh of all teacher computers, which have not been updated in several years; 2) Professional development focusing on project-based learning implementation, including contracts with Cultivate21 and EdLeader21, and observations of other schools; 3) Offsetting extra costs for student nutrition during school closures through June 30, including transportation, kitchen staff salaries, and supplies for meal packaging. The district also plans to use funds for summer school for K-8 students, a 25% refresh of student learning devices, expansion of school counseling with a .5 FTE elementary counselor, and telehealth mental health services through Lutheran Social Services.
