The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking independent contractors/organizations to provide Oncology Data Specialists to process case reports submitted to the Massachusetts Cancer Registry (MCR) in accordance with established guidelines. The scope of work may include abstract reviews, case finding, pathology screening for reportability, and quality assurance activities. Strict adherence to MCR data confidentiality requirements is required, along with the execution of a confidentiality agreement. Quality-controlled data will be used in studies related to cancer control, such as analysis of stage at diagnosis and treatment patterns. This RFR is seeking supplemental ODS-C support as needed. The Massachusetts Cancer Registry (MCR) receives and processes over 75,000 records annually. Case finding has varied (current estimate involving approximately 4,000 records). Approximately 1500 path screenings are performed per year, mostly by MCR staff. The 75,000 records received annually currently translates to approximately 41,000 consolidated cases. Quality assurance tasks are performed on an ongoing basis as part of record processing. Approximately 10-12 hours of database training is initially required per staff working on MCR contract, with any additional systems training as needed.
