The New York State Department of State, via the Office for New America (ONA), is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) to fund not-for-profit organizations for its Professional Pathways Program. This program aims to bolster New York's economy by supporting immigrant empowerment and workforce development. It will assist high-skilled immigrants who face barriers to professional development by providing screening, training, and/or re-credentialing, and by identifying job placement opportunities. The program will focus on fields with high demand for skilled workers across New York State, including healthcare, education, engineering, IT, and business/finance. The RFA is divided into two parts: Part A funds ONA Job Coaches in eleven specific regions of New York State, and Part B funds one organization to serve as the statewide Professional Pathways Lead Agency, offering program direction and technical assistance. Key activities for Part A include participant recruitment, screening, and selection; building professional language and cultural competency; facilitating job placements; and conducting regional outreach with workforce development boards and employers. Part B activities involve identifying industry needs and employer partners, supporting participant screening, providing industry-specific training, offering technical support and program data management, and coordinating statewide outreach.
