Description
The Southwest Minnesota Arts Council's Quick Support for Artists program provides grants of up to $1,000 for artist-focused projects, artistic or professional development, and small artist-led community projects. Eligible expenses may include supplies or equipment tied to the project, space, research, artist time, child care, framing, recording, editing, portfolio or website production, mentoring, workshops, classes, and conferences. All arts disciplines and artists at any career stage may apply. Projects must have an arts focus and may not be for-profit activities, mass-market distribution, general contingencies, fundraising, scholarships, lobbying, or other listed ineligible purposes. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by contract signing and must be permanent residents of the council's eighteen-county and two-tribal-nation service region for at least six months before applying and throughout the contract period. Required application materials are a project budget, artist resume or biography, and work samples submitted as attachments or links. Applications may be submitted through the online grant system, by email in a Word document with attachments, or on paper by mail or arranged drop-off. Applications are evaluated on the applicant's ability to accomplish the project and the project's contribution to artistic growth, with additional community-impact considerations for community projects. Awardees must sign an electronic contract within 30 days of notification and provide a W-9 before payment; these are post-award requirements.
