Description
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is soliciting grant applications for projects implementing the Hudson River Estuary Action Agenda 2026–2030 goal of an informed and engaged public. Eligible projects may establish or improve locally based river-learning facilities, develop and deliver estuary education programs and resources, provide educator professional development or curriculum development, or operate intensive environmental science research programs for high school students, college students, and young adults. Grant awards range from $20,000 to $100,000, with approximately $250,000 available. Projects must be located within the defined Hudson River Estuary watershed and tidal Hudson River/New York Harbor geographic boundaries, provide at least 15% eligible match, and be completed during the three-year contract term from September 1, 2027, through August 31, 2030. Eligible applicants include qualifying nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, municipalities, public authorities, soil and water conservation districts, school districts, colleges, universities, and Indian nations or tribes. Applications must address the specified project objectives, work plan, timeline, budget, accessibility requirements, and required certifications and supporting documentation.
