The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride requires horse-drawn carriage training for riders and horses, farrier services, boarding and care for up to four horses, and sourcing and brokerage services for four suitable carriage horses. Rider training must occur monthly over two days at the RCMP stables, while horse training must occur at the supplier's facility for two to four months per horse and include boarding, farrier care, turnout, progress reports, and formal evaluations. Brokerage duties include identifying suitable horses, arranging veterinary examinations, managing purchase documentation, coordinating specialized transportation, and negotiating purchases. The supplier must operate a horse-training facility within 265 km of Ottawa with capacity for four horses and suitable accommodation within 10 km. The notice requires at least 10 years of horse-driving training experience and 10 years of professional farrier experience, along with demonstrated equine assessment, husbandry, veterinary-care, and horse-brokerage capabilities.
