The National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP), managed by the Executive Control Board (ECB), is preparing to issue Research Announcement 27 (RA-27) and Panel Project Announcement (PP-27). These solicitations aim to fund projects that advance shipbuilding and sustainment technologies and processes, enhancing efficiency and throughput within the U.S. shipyard industrial base. NSRP projects require at least one U.S. shipyard participant, and an online form is available for submitting R&D ideas to shipyards and Panel Officers year-round. For RA27, the standard 50% cost share requirement will be relaxed for Small Businesses (NAICS 541715), Non-Profits, and Academia. While cost share is not mandatory for these entities, it will be considered during the selection process. The 50% cost share remains in effect for other participating organization types. Panel Projects have a funding ceiling of $200K, require shipyard participation (private or public, including the USCG Shipyard), and prefer participation from multiple shipyards. NSRP panel meetings are encouraged for collaboration, project teaming, and technology transfer, and are open to the public.
