Description
The New York Power Authority (NYPA) intends to file a proposed Environmental Management & Construction Plan (EM&CP) for its Uniondale Hub Substation Upgrade Project. This project involves the expansion of the existing 345 kilovolt (kV) Uniondale Hub substation with a new 345 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS). The project is located in the Village of Garden City and the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York. The EM&CP details the construction procedures and environmental protection measures to be implemented. It has been developed in compliance with the Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need, the "General Guidelines for Environmental Management and Construction Plan" from the New York State Department of Public Service, and the Commission's Amendment Order. The EM&CP will be publicly accessible online via the Commission's Document and Matter Management page for Case 22-T-0351 and at local libraries in Uniondale and Garden City. The project is identified as a Designated Public Policy Project by the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) to enhance grid resiliency and reliability, and to support the transition to renewable energy sources in alignment with New York State's climate goals.
